The Royal Foundation provides schools with cultural awareness educational development for students and faculty alike. We’ve partnered with educator, author and historian professor Kaba Hiawatha Kamane in order to enrich school communities from a historical perspective. One session includes a full day where students and faculty are given an interactive presentation from the world’s famous historian. This includes 2 student group presentations and an one hour faculty professional development session.
Kaba Hiawatha Kamene was born in New York Hospital, on Monday, November 16, 1953. Since 2011, Kaba Hiawatha has starred in several critically acclaimed, documentaries such as Tariq Nasheed’s, Hidden Colors 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 1804: The Hidden History of the Haitian Revolution. Additionally, he is the featured narrator in the hit documentary, “Out of Darkness” and “Heavy is the Crown” by Amadeuz Christ as well as starring in “Elementary Genocide”, “Black Friday 1 and 2” and Dame Dash’s, “The Secret to Ballin” with Snoop Dogg, Ice T, Wu-Tang Clan, Faith Evans, Rev. Dr. Michael Beckwith and other entertainment and community icons.
Kaba Hiawatha’s voice, speeches, writings and narrations have been performed in independent productions, NeruvianDoom by Nehru and Doom, titled, “Om”, He is also the featured writer and performer on Wu Tang Clan’s EP, “The Saga Continues” track titled, “Message.” He collaborated with Kaashe Muzik on his own two EP’s titled, “From Kaos to Order” and “Mi aMoor” Kaba Hiawatha received his Bachelors’ Degree in International Politics from New York University, with a minor in Caribbean Studies (June77). He earned his first (1st) Masters of Art in World History from Hunter College, N.Y. (June 87) and he received his second (2nd) Masters of Science in Educational Administration and Supervision, from City College of New York (Feb.88).
Kaba Hiawatha has been a Pan African, African- Centered educator, consultant, administrator, staff developer and curriculum writer for over 40 years. He has taught every grade level (Pre-K-12) in the New York City Department of Education for over 31 years (Oct 1979-Jul 2009) and has been a college professor in the Black Studies department at the State University of New York at New Paltz for 12 years (Fall 2004-Spring 2016).
Over Kaba Hiawatha’s long career in Education, he has consulted many Boards of Education, Schools, Communities, Parents and Student groups. His greatest experiences have been his many classroom visitations around the world and implementing successful strategies in the teaching/ learning process. He is firmly dedicated to the belief that culture plays a vitally important role in education and he credits many of his academic views to his teacher, world- renowned educator, Professor John Henrik Clarke.
Kaba Hiawatha is the creator, Principal Facilitator and Chief Executive Officer of the African-Centered Science Academy, “Per Ankh (Temple/House of Life)”. Kaba Hiawatha has written many educational curricula guides and collaborated with teams in the creation of many study guides. He co-authored a book titled, “Mi aMoor” with Kaashe Muzik and has authored a biography on the architect of America’s African studies program “Honoring William Leo Hansberry.” Kaba Hiawatha lives in New York with his wife, Sharen of 37 years and they have two daughters, Sasha Madeline, Candace Deana and one son, Heru. Their children have followed in their parent’s footsteps and work in fields that serve humanity and the community.

A GIL RIOS PRODUCTION
This enrichment course will teach you the things you need to know about the introduction to film production. Over 12 weeks students are taught techniques of learning cameras, sound, lighting, research and interviewing, filming process and screening films.
As a final project students will be required to produce a short film documentary of the schools choosing.

We use a 3 tier mentoring model in order to strive for students success.
Students are mentored in the 5 competencies of social emotional learning. We use scenario lessons that are relatable and realistic to the experiences our youth face in their environments that they live. Pre & post assessments are given to gauge our programs impact. Students will be required to participate in our interactive activities. Awards and trips are given upon completion of our programs.
Faculty & admin are given professional development sessions by retired department educators and others. In order to build a healthy school culture, positive student/teacher relationships must be established & maintained.
Parent Partnerships are a point of focus in order to furnish healthy relationships that exist beyond classrooms between parents and their children. Parents are given workshops in order to help better support them. This includes but is not limited to financial, parenting, health wellness and nutritional workshops.

These enrichment courses will teach you the things you need to know about the music business, from production techniques to writing lyrics that resonate with listeners.
Students will explore soundtrap interface. Students will learn tempo, rhythm, time signatures. Students will learn chord progressions and melody. Audio effects, like reverb, delay, compression. Introduce arranging concepts like intros, verses, choruses, breaks, endings. Students will also learn about eq and panning.
Course participants will be required to submit a final project, where they produce beat tracks. Awards will be given for the best project submitted.
18 week live instruction
Students who have a love for cooking and healthy living will love our introduction to nutrition literacy. Meal planning and preparation around a wide array of cuisine. Students will be taught; Asian, African American, vegetarian, caribbean, Latin and African cuisine. Get ready to learn hands on practical cooking sessions.
For their final project, course participants will create their own healthy meal for presentation and tasting. Students will also design a balanced meal plan incorporating dishes from all studied cuisines.
Awards and/or trips will be given for the best presentations.
